Ejected from art school for making unsavory films, Barney went to the London International Film School where his graduation film won the Fuji Film Scholarship Awards and was further nominated for a BAFTA award. He quickly followed this with an adventure into outer space with his short film 'Stories From Space'.

After this was released, commercial work came calling and Barney moved into the music video world. He has now worked with artists such as Dirty Pretty Things, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Zero 7 (VMA nominee), Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan.  His video for Gnarls Barkley's 'Who Cares?' garnered multiple nominations and an award at the 2007 Creative and Design Awards.

Barney's feature length documentary entitled 'Greetings From Beartown' followed the band Menlo Park on a vodka-fuelled tour of Russia.  It was shown at the specialist Popcorn Festival in Stockholm and subsequently screened multiple times on Channel 4 (UK) in the 'Outsiders' season.

He also wrote and directed a short film for Ritz Fine Jewellery 'Carousel', which starred the actress Chloe Sevigny.

Barney took a brief hiatus from music videos, to write and direct the short film 'Finkle's Odyssey', which proved a great success, garnering a fistful of awards at major film festivals worldwide.

After relocating from London to New York, he completed a mescaline-soaked, metaphorical interpretation of the recording process surrounding the 'Yeah Yeah Yeahs' third album 'It's Blitz'. Entitled 'Snakesweat' the film was shot on a shoestring budget on the Tex/Mex border.

His work has been written about across the board in such major publications as Dazed & Confused and Vanity Fair.

He is currently working on his debut feature, 'Black Fang'.

Barney lives in New York City and is represented by Partizan…
